Map of Turkey with surrounding areas. - Landkarte von Türkei. - Mapa de Turquía. - Carte de Turquie.

Turkey's capital is Ankara, the biggest city of the country is Istanbul. Flights to Turkey go to many different destinations, including big cities and holiday regions. Other important cities are Bursa, Izmir, Antalya, Konya, Mersin, Adana, Gaziantep, Kayseri, Samsun, Sivas, Trabzon, Malatya, Erzurum, Diyarbakir and Van. The names of the longest rivers are Kizil Irmak, Firat (= Euphrates) and Dicle (= Tigris). The name if the highest mountain peak is Ararat (5137 m altitude).
The single official language of Turkey is Turkish. Many different languages are spoken in Turkey, and the problem of the official language is rarely as problematic as in Turkey. In the eastern part of the country there are regions where Turkish is rarely spoken. Kurdish, Armenian and other languages are frequently spoken there. The Kurdish language and culture have been suppressed for decades by the Turkish state, the situation has improved with increasing interests of the Turkish government to approach the European Union. The Kurdish language in Turkey is written in the Latin script.
In the west, mainly in Istanbul, Greek is still spoken by a minority. The Greek-speaking population has never been expelled from Istanbul, which has always been a tolerant city and did not participate in the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1922.
Tourism is of high importance in Turkey. We would appreciate more detailed information, also about tourism, flights, or individual tours to Turkey.

This is our Map of the World with original scripts (original size 70 x 100 cm), from which the detailed map shown above has been cut out. The numbers of city inhabitants and vegetational zones were researched by hand for every country, by using the sources listed below. This procedure prevented the map from containing traditional errors provoked by simply copying such information from previous maps.

The map can be ordered for 11.50 Euros (+ postage and packing) at
