Malaysia's capital is Kuala Lumpur, which is also the biggest city of the country. Flights to Malaysia usually go to Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia is subdivided into two main parts: the mainland areas in the west and the northern parts of Borneo in the east (Sabah and Sarawak).
The most important cities of Malaysia are the following:
Mainland: Kuala Lumpur, Alor Setar, Georgetown, Ipoh, Kota Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan.
Sarawak: Kuching, Sibu, Miri.
Sabah: Kota Kinabalu, Kudat, Sandakan, Tawau.

The official language of Malaysia is Malay (bahasa Melayu). This language is today usually written in the Latin script. The Arabic script however is also official, though rarely used outside Musulman religious contexts and not really present in public life. Since at least a minority is still using this script today, we have quoted on our map the Latin and the Arabic script spellings for the localities in Malaysia.
Tourism is of high importance in Malaysia. We would appreciate more detailed information, also about tourism, sea voyages, flights, or individual tours to Malaysia.

This is our Map of the World with original scripts (original size 70 x 100 cm), from which the detailed map shown above has been cut out. The numbers of city inhabitants and vegetational zones were researched by hand for every country, by using the sources listed below. This procedure prevented the map from containing traditional errors provoked by simply copying such information from previous maps.

The map can be ordered for 11.50 Euros (+ postage and packing) at
